2006 Season - Week 19

And then there were four

And perhaps not the 4 we were expecting... or were we. In the NFC two close fought games saw the home teams eventually prevail despite both being down in the second half. Chicago will host New Orleans in the NFC Championship game, the fist time in history the Saints have got to play for the Championship. In the AFC the two roads teams both won and so set up another opportunity for Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts to beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the post season. As the third seed Indi get to host the first ever AFC Championship game to be played in a dome. And then there were four The upsets continued in the “Search for BUMSBowl XI” as both the 16th & 15th seeds beat the 3rd & 5th seeds respectively. David Stamp’s rank outsiders squeezed past Johnny by 3 points & now play the 7th ranked Wolverines as Mark also won his game by 3. This one will be a real grudge match and I expect the emails to start flying pretty soon. There should be plenty of bulletin board material for both coaches. In the other championship game the post season’s 2nd and 3rd most successful owners will go head-to-head as 15th ranked Daz plays 9th ranked Marcus. Both had comfortable wins though Marcus had to come back from a 27-9 half-time deficit to Rookie George. Daz is a 2-time winner of the BUMSBowl whilst Marcus has won it 3 times in the last 5 years. Teams to me by 10am Sunday please. All-BUMS Voting Time to vote for your favourite players of 2006. Attached are the top scoring players at each position. These should be with me by Wednesday January 31st so that the votes can be counted and the team can be announced at the BUMS Superbowl Party on Sunday February 4th at BUMS HQ from around 10:30pm. BUMS on Seats And then there were four. The Championship games are late on Sunday night so we are splitting them over two nights. We are at BUMS HQ from 8:30pm Sunday to see live the NFC Championship game as Chicago host New Orleans (9pm kick off) and then at Johnny’s from 6:30pm on Monday to see (off tape) the AFC decided as New England travel to Indianapolis. As a result the newsletter will be sent on Tuesday. SO PLEASE NO EMAILS NEXT MONDAY. Remember the Superbowl is not until the first Sunday in February (the 4th) so have a word with your boss and take Monday 5th off and come and join us for the usual Superbowl fun and games & Cheryl’s tasty morcels from around 10:30pm. Please let us know if you can make it so we can sort the catering. All are more than welcome.
